"Cuts Like a Knife" by Debbie Wiess / directed by Born BiKim

In Spring, 2005, "Cuts Like a Knife and "Uncharted Territory" won awards in the Arlington Players Playwrights' Quadrangle festival of staged readings, earning them a full presentation in "Five."

"Uncharted Territory " by Sue Brody / directed by David Behrstock
Karen is a poetry teacher who has loved but never been loved. Mark is a poet and student of Karen’s who has an ex-wife, a son, and is distrustful of ever loving again. They meet in Karen’s class and verbally dance, as each dares the other to dream about the possibility of happiness. As their poetry and their past bring them together, a terrible accident threatens to tear them apart.

"Patience" by Ginger Lazarus / directed by Fran Weinberg
Jane, a shy alto with big dreams, should be at rehearsal. Instead, she is stuck pulling a double shift at the hospital, where she works as a nurse's aide. As she cares for a comatose patient, Jane shares the story of her lifelong passion for Gilbert and Sullivan operettas: how the shows captivated her and raised her to an unlikely stardom--which has now dwindled to an endless stint as a member of the chorus. Wistful but ever hopeful, Jane takes comfort in the music, and the possibility that someone will really listen.

"Toast" by Monica Raymond / directed by Ted Kazanoff
November 2001. Jeffrey Landesman, physics prodigy turned restaurant critic, takes his sister and her fiance to the luncheonette in lower Manhattan that once served the perfect toast. But times have changed.
